Retro Fitted Shimano lures do the damage on Mulloway and Bream

I love my lure fishing, especially for Bream and also love tinkering around. I had read a great report in a fishing magazine about retro fitting trebles with single hooks or stingers to improve your catch rate when you are getting 'short bites' (the fish going for the lure but basically just getting the tail etc.

I had experinced those short bites myself so I thought what a great project to do while its cold and wet outside. I have a good variety of lures and wanted to modify some of my favourites, the Shimano sinking minnow, a variety of blades and some top water lures.

I was having a lot of trouble getting the line length correct for the single hook, if I tried to make it to short i had no way of tying the knot so after a bit of 'Googling' I found a solution, thanks HotBiteFishing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XS2TGNen1qo.

I pretty much followed his instructions but used braid instead of line, I also added some fine rubber tubbing found in my wifes sewing room and also tried a few beads (sshhh).

The results were fantastic, I would let the sinking minnow do just that, let it sink to the bottom or close to it and then give it a twitch and then a pause. Pretty standard retrieve but came up with the goods.
